The entire world is changing and adapting in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, and the moving industry is no different. Element Moving and Storage cares about your safety, which is why we’re taking new safety measures for the protection of our clients. We ask that you do what you can to make the move safer for our moving team and the general public. Here are a few things you can do to keep everyone safe and healthy during your move.
Pack Everything A Few Days Ahead
In an experiment conducted to test the lifespan of COVID-19 on different surfaces, the researchers concluded the virus dies within three days on most surfaces. Having everything packed at least three days before the move allows any harmful bacteria to die off before your moving team handles any of your boxes. You can even lightly spray your boxes with a disinfectant before moving day to ensure the safety of your moving team.
Leave Before the Movers Arrive
Avoiding crowds of people is one of the best COVID-19 prevention techniques, so consider leaving before your movers arrive. Unless your movers need you to instruct them, you don’t have any real reason to be there. Use that time to prepare for or get a head start on the trip to your new home.
Travel Safely
Avoid travelling on a plane unless it’s necessary. A road trip might not be your ideal form of travel, but it’s the safer option for you and your family. Always put a mask on before going into public spaces, and wash your hands every time you get the chance.
Clean Your New Home Immediately
If the last residents of your new home moved out more than a month before you arrived, the surfaces should all be safe to touch. Either way, you should disinfect all high contact surfaces in your new home before doing anything else. Sanitize the house right away if you arrive before your movers, but always sanitize after the movers leave.
Wear Masks and Social Distance
For the safety of our moving team, we ask that you do your part to make all interactions with your moving team as safe as possible. Keep a social distance of at least 6 feet away from other people whenever possible and always wear a mask when you’re surrounded by other people. Please call and reschedule your moving day if you start to experience symptoms like coughing, wheezing, congestion, fever, chills, loss of taste or smell, fatigue or muscle aches.
