The Element Gives Back initiative began not long after we opened for business. We realized from the beginning that a great company does not grow in a vacuum. It needs to be part of something bigger than itself, and it needs to make contributions toward that greater good.
In the communities of which we are fortunate to call ourselves members, quality-of-place is of the highest importance. And unless there are people and businesses like ours to contribute, it won’t ever be achieved.
Here are just a few of the causes and organizations we support in our efforts to make Dallas and Austin premier lifestyle destinations with giving spirits and a genuine empathy for its people.
Handling thousands of moving jobs each year puts us into a lot of direct contact with people who are looking to either downsize or replace belongings like furniture, equipment, and other household appliances. Much of the time, these materials are in perfectly fine and reusable condition. They just need to be connected to the right home at the right time.
At Element Moving, we are proud to offer our services to make this connection for gently-used belongings in search of a second life a reality. We do it by moving products to organizations that can find the people or families who need them.
We’ve worked with a number of clients looking to purge their household inventory as well as empty nesters who would like to hit the reset button on the use of space throughout their homes after the kids are out of the house. Some things to keep in mind if you’d like to donate to some of the charities we support:
Focus on resellable items. If it is too worn or damaged, consider recycling it for another use. Also, keep in mind that some things are past their useful life or not appropriate for donation purposes. Think tube televisions and used mattresses. Bottom line: make sure things are still in good condition.
Our efforts in this area contribute to organizations like Habitat for Humanity, which, while global in nature, improves the lives of many Texans by helping them find and establish a decent place to live — something we believe everyone has a right to experience.
We also support locally-based organizations like the Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas. JFS turns no one away, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, or ability to pay. The core purpose is to provide mental health and social services. But a significant part of that is about making sure individuals and families have the comforts and necessities to lead dignified lives.
Reduced-Cost Moving Services
We work with a variety of charities throughout Dallas and Austin. Among them, they serve thousands in need. Unfortunately, some of these organizations are often limited to available resources. At Element Moving, we believe that shouldn’t be an obstacle to helping others. That is why we use our strengths to bridge whatever gaps we can for these organizations. Part of that effort takes the form of reduced-cost moving services. We will work with many worthy causes throughout the region to offer lower costs and flexible payment options whenever possible.
A couple of those include the Community Enrichment Center, which, for 30 years, has sought to end the cycle of poverty and domestic violence that follows far too many in our great state.
Additionally, we’ve forged a relationship with Families to Freedom, helping victims of domestic violence — often women and children — escape from dangerous environments to safe and secure new locations. With FTF, we will store vital materials such as suitcases and car seats so they’re able to help vulnerable victims of domestic violence have all the necessities they need at a moment’s notice.
Feeding the Hungry
Two other organizations of seminal importance to the Element Gives Back initiative are Move for Hunger and Minnie’s Food Pantry. With Move for Hunger, we collect non-perishable food items and deliver them to local food banks. And through Minnie’s Food Pantry, we’ve used our delivery services to help that organization provide emergency meals to families and children throughout the Plano region. Together, these organizations have served millions of meals, and we’re always honored to contribute to their continued success.
The World We Want to Live In
The responsibility of any great business should be about creating the world in which you want to live. We’re doing that through the Element Gives Back initiative, and we’re always looking for new partnerships to which we can contribute.
If you would like to get involved with Element Gives Back, or if you would like to support any of the organizations listed here, we want to hear from you. Contact us any time about causes and organizations that are making Dallas and Austin better places to live. We’ll do whatever we can within our talents and resources to help.
